THE RAFFLE BRIDGE . BRIDGES . COMPLETED . CELJE (SI) . 2017

The new construction complements the iconography of existing spatial elements. It preserves the grace of the old town panorama and offers a cultural dialogue between the old and the new. Each era leaves a mark in the space with a new bridge. Therefore the decision on the choice of the bridge construction and thus its architectural and symbolic image was aimed at finding a long span object with the bridge beam as thin as possible. The bridge was to span the river in one leap. The new footbridge therefore will not compete with the ambiance of the town scenery by being extravagant or garish, but will complement it with a youthful elegance and boldness, which are made possible by using new technologies and knowledge.

The existing apartment was too divided and restrictive for his rhythm of life. CHAIR C2210 . OBJECTS . COMPLETED . LJUBLJANA (SI) . 2020

A chair, even one without the expected four legs, is still a chair. And although at a glance it stuns us as unusual piece of seatery, its three-limbed incarnations can be found throughout the history of grand designs. The minimalist, elegantly designed chair C2210 is visually and functionally unique. Iconic for its slender backrest, shaped in a single swing from a thin curved metal rod that, like a stroke of a pen or a play of bends, transcends the narrative of cold material. The chair is not meant for lazy relaxation, but for thoughtfulness and elegance. Despite its apparent fragility and asceticism, it attracts us because of its practicality and lightness - it can be carried around only with one finger. Made from a single material it can be fully recycled and at the end of its life it can easily melt and form into something new.

PATIO HOUSE . RESIDENTIAL PROJECT . COMPLETED . LJUBLJANA (SI) . 2019

In spite of its seeming simplicity, the minimalist-designed house offers complex spatial and living experiences. The clever architectural design responds to the needs of a family of four, who wished a house with a high degree of privacy, while enjoying its spaciousness and openness despite the relatively small plot. Due to the unpredictable nature of the future development in the area, the house is oriented into itself. It forgoes a garden in favor of an intimate inner atrium, around which the entire program of the house is arranged. The atrium is embraced on two sides by two wings connected via a corridor.

HOUSE BEHIND THE WALL . RESIDENTIAL PROJECT . COMPLETED . LAVRICA(SI) . 2007

The new longitudinal house is conceived as a wall – a fence forming a secure atrium in the midst of the existing built environment. The house is turned outside in. It enables its residents intimacy, and at the same time it offers a compromise with the co-existence of the widely divergent structures in the same area. It resembles a nest, well- accommodated, protected and concealed, but at the same time benevolent to nature, openness and broadness of mind. The longitudinal wall, 40 metres long, has two functions. It marks the parcel boundary of the new house, sets its exterior margin - keeping out of sight the disorderly, inhabited side of the parcel - and at the same time, on the inside, accommodates a storage space running along its entire length.

LIFE AFTER MADRID . INTERIOR PROJECT . COMPLETED . LJUBLJANA (SI) . 2017

Life After Madrid is a refurbishment of a small apartment in one of the skyscrapers that Slovenian modernist architect Edvard Ravnikar built in the 1960s. Designed by Arhitektura d.o.o., the small 51-sqm (549-sqft) apartment in Ljubljana, was finished in 2017. Our goal was to preserve the basic floor plan of this 50 m2 flat, which connects the central meeting space with other living spaces – the kitchen, the bedroom and the study At the same time, we wanted to move all the service and utilitarian elements – such as the water heater, washing machine, and wardrobe – to the narrow space dividing the flat into two halves – the public and the private. The service space relieves the living quarters of additional storage surfaces, thus creating open and light ambients.

MAGIC BOX . RENOVATION OF AN OLD VILLA . COMPLETED . LJUBLJANA (SI) . 2009

While renovating the facade, the owners of an old Ljubljana villa, built in 1913, also wanted to enlarge the ground floor space, and to connect it to the garden by constructing a new terrace. A 5x5m flexible outer room was added to the villa for this purpose, allowing for a variety of uses. It is designed as a ‘magic box’ – as a cube whose vacant space is delimited by metal edges containing movable screens and a roof plane. By means of remote control, a great variety of spatial geometries may be created, including automatic adaptation of the space to outdoor factors. A new outer staircase with a projecting roof and a garden fence were built. All the new elements were added to the villa in a very concise way, so that there is a clear difference between the pre-existing and the added.

ATTIC APARTMENT . INTERIOR PROJECT . COMPLETED . LJUBLJANA (SI) . 2025

At its center, the existing staircase and wardrobe act as a dividing element between the living and private quarters. The lower level includes two bedrooms with a luxurious bathroom and sauna, while the upper floor features a library overlooking the double-height living space, as well as a guest room with an ensuite bathroom.

ADA BRIDGE . BRIDGES . COMPLETED . BEOGRAD (SER) . 2012

Ada bridge spans the Sava in a leap by means of two wide arches abutting on the river banks and on Ada Ciganlija, the island in the middle. At the very promontory of Ada Ciganlija island, a 207 m high pylon was erected to enable two assymmetrical spans to cross the river by means of 80 steel backstay cables. The new bridge is 920 m long, with a span of 375 metres. The carriageway is 45 metres wide, with six lanes for road vehicles, two light rail railway tracks, and two pedestrian and cycling paths. This is the largest bridge surface in the world suspended by just one pylon. The bridge incorporates numerous superior characteristics and succesfully meets many technical challenges.
